If you are a parent of a child with Long-Chain 3 Hydroxyacyl CoA Dehydrogense (LCHAD) you will understand how important it is to feed your child nutritious food that is low in fat.  A child with LCHAD cannot consume a lot of fat since their body is unable to turn it into energy.  Since the body is unable to use fat as energy it can build up around the heart and liver causing potentially life threatening cardiomyopathy or liver failure.

One of this site's regular visitors was kind enough to send in recipes she uses for her child.  They live "down under" so there are some BBQ recipes!  These are Microsoft Word files so please send me an e-mail if you are unable to view them.

Before preparing any of the following for your child with LCHAD please consult your metabolic dietitian to ensure that it fits into your child's nutrition plan.
